For The Locals - Mamma Lucia

Mamma Lucia is an Italian Restaurant with locations all over Maryland. We commonly order pizza takeout from them when we want to stay in and eat cozy food. Their pizza is similar to a long and floppy New York style slice. For this review Courtney took a solo trip to review items we have not had before.

They start your dining experience with free Italian bread and oil. Courtney loves the taste of pure olive oil therefore she liked this dip a lot. The oil includes parmesan and lots of garlic which makes it extremely flavorful. Ed does not like olive oil and enjoys bread with butter much more. This will be something you either really love or really hate.

For Courtney's main course she ordered their Mozzarella Caprese with added salmon on top. The dish includes basil, balsamic, tomatoes, and olive oil. This was pretty disappointing. The presentation of the salmon was not very appetizing in Courtney’s opinion and it was served cold. The salmon also had zero crispiness or a beautiful flakiness good quality fish has. The balsamic was basically flavorless. The whole overall dish was strangely watery. You could make a better one at home with more flavor.

For dessert Courtney ordered their lemon cake. The obvious fact is that any lemon cake will be pretty delicious but some are definitely better than others. This one was fine but did not have the freshly made feel like others we’ve had. The powdered sugar on top was a lovely touch and it did have good lemon flavor. This dessert is something Courtney would eat again but it is certainly not memorable.

Overall we recommend if you come eat here, stick to loading up on their pizza or pasta section on the menu. The waitress Courtney had was very friendly which is always very appreciated!
