Ocean City, MD Food - Dry 85

Our series of Ocean City, Maryland restaurants continues with Dry 85. Their outside and inside decor is a modern industrial take on a Prohibition-Era speakeasy.

The first appetizer we tried that was Courtney's favorite dish of the night was their Fried Green Tomatoes that includes three panko crusted green tomatoes with a house-made Chesapeake Beurre Blanc and balsamic glaze. The Chesapeake Beurre Blanc was a delicious smooth and creamy sauce with strong Old Bay flavor that was spectacular. The breading was light and actually tasted very fresh. The semi sweet flavor from the balsamic glaze was the perfect last touch to make an epic savory and sweet dish.

We were very intrigued by their menu item that said Brussels of the day and we learned they have a new flavor of Brussels sprouts daily. During our dining experience the flavor of the day was Apple-Mint that sounded very strange to us, but we needed to try them to see for ourselves. We love when restaurants prepare a unique twist on a popular dish. We were pleasantly surprised by the flavor of this dish. The apple flavor was the strongest and it honestly worked well with the Brussels. It was not our favorite batch we've ever had but they were certainly interesting to try.

For Ed's entree he ordered their Filet Mignon with a side of scalloped potatoes. He ordered his steak cooked medium and it was served to him very well done to the point he needed to send it back. His new steak came and then it was served very rare. So, the steak was incredibly disappointing, but Ed did enjoy the scalloped potatoes.

For Courtney's entree she ordered their 5 oz Lump Crabcake with their Tropical Aioli dipping sauce. The crabcake had great size lump crab, tasted very fresh, and great flavor. The only negative was that there were crab shell pieces still in the cake that Courtney was continuously picking out of it. The tropical aioli was something Courtney has never tried before, and it was extremely delicious. If summertime was a flavor, it would be that sauce. It tasted similar to mango and pineapple. The consistency was delightfully smooth.

Another unique dish they offer that Ed was excited to try were their Slow Roasted Pork Ribs with house-made Blueberry Sauce. The sauce is certainly something you will love or hate but if you love ribs, you should absolutely try it!

We were able to sit right down with no wait and our server was super friendly with fast service. This is a fun restaurant to open up your taste pallet and try something new!
