Chain Reviews - Yardbird Table & Bar

The time has finally come... it was graduation day for Courtney so we wanted to celebrate with a glorious lunch. We came to Yardbird Table & Bar at their Washington, DC location. Our mindset for this dining experience was go big or go home!

There was no way we could not begin this blog post with anything other than their beautiful Lobster Mac & Cheese that included a whole lobster and creamy five artisanal cheese sauce. The presentation was absolutely spectacular and the taste was off the charts. This is the ultimate celebration dish.

The first appetizer we ordered was their Deviled Eggs with dill, chives, and Smoked Trout Roe. The eggs were beautifully presented and delicious. They had a unique flavor that we’ve never had before. The smoked trout roe provides a slightly sweet taste. Really good!

The next dish we ordered was their Heirloom Field Pea Hummus that was topped with pistachio and cilantro that was served with crackers and chilled seasonal vegetables. The nuts on top of the hummus added amazing texture and a slight extra amount of saltiness that made the dip above average. The vegetables tasted nicely fresh which made this a great summer lunch appetizer option.

Our favorite appetizer of our experience was their Classic Buttermilk Biscuits served with honey butter and house-made jam. The biscuits were warm, buttery, and tasted freshly made. They were the perfect pillowy soft texture with a slightly crispy top layer. They had a phenomenal buttery flavor without adding extra but they became truly heavenly when we spread the added butter onto the biscuit. The only critique is that the butter lacked honey or cinnamon flavor but even regular butter never tastes bad!

We also tried their Crispy Brussels which was one of their side menu items that was drizzled with spiced honey and salt. These were simply delightful. The honey flavor was very light and the flakes of salt paired deliciously together.

For Ed's entrée he ordered their 1/3 Lb Jumbo Lump Crab Cake with fresh blue crab, creamy coleslaw, and fries. The crabcake was a touch overcooked for our preference but still a solid crabcake with more meat than extra filler. The fries were very seasoned and a great combo with the creamy coleslaw. And the special sauce may even be better than the Raising Cane's sauce people rave about.

For Courtney's entrée she ordered their Simply Grilled Fish which today was rockfish served with basil pesto and an olive relish. The house-made basil pesto was incredible with impeccable flavor. The fish was cooked perfectly where when you cut into it with your fork it had the beautiful flakiness a well cooked fish gets. Courtney does not love olives but if you do, this olive relish will be your new favorite garnish. This will certainly go on the list for our favorite refreshing summer dishes!

We also had amazing service which makes the restaurant a complete package! We would recommend making a reservation and come have a spectacular time!
