Chain Reviews - True Food Kitchen

It was time for Courtney's birthday dinner and she knew exactly where she wanted to go... True Food Kitchen! We went to the Gaithersburg, Maryland location but they have locations throughout the United States. The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed their lovely outside seating.

The first starter we ordered was their seasonal Edamame Guacamole (pictured below). Seeing an untraditional take on a common food meant we had to try it! You can easily taste that the guacamole was just freshly made. It has fantastic cilantro and lime flavor. The edamame in the center added a unique crunchy texture that Courtney really liked. The umami crackers paired amazingly with the guacamole. The seasoning was right on the money without being too overpowering. We also ordered the Herb Hummus with extra pita but we have had that before and already knew it was delicious. (We recommend you order both!)

Courtney for her entrée ordered their seasonal Mediterranean Salad with shrimp that includes olives, cucumber, red quinoa, asparagus, artichoke, feta, marcona almond, and lemon oregano vinaigrette. Courtney LOVES fun dressings and sauces on any kind of dish and the dressing here always tastes homemade. The lemon flavor in this dressing was amazing. The veggies were full of flavor and the almonds added a great crunch. The shrimp were nicely cooked and a good size for the dish. This entrée was also delightfully refreshing which is a common theme throughout most of their menu options.

Ed ordered their new Bison Sausage Pizza that includes organic DiNapoli tomato sauce, charred scallion salsa verde, mozzarella, cotija, and jalapeño. The pizza was full of flavor from the bison sausage and onions, and just spicy enough from the jalapeños without being overpowering.  It is the perfect size to share for 2 smaller appetites or great for one if you're feeling ambitious! It is not over sauced or potentially messy in any way. Good chew on the crust!

For dessert we ordered their Strawberry Cake and Ice Cream that includes macerated strawberry, ricotta frosting, and vanilla ice cream. This is now one of Courtney's favorite restaurant desserts she has ever eaten. The frosting truly melts in your mouth and the strawberry flavor is actually pretty light with a great amount of sweetness still. The perfect bite is putting the ice cream on top of the cake. The vanilla ice cream is served with small and sweet crunchy bites that tastes like graham cracker. Everything about this dessert was simply lovely.

Coming here as a picky eater might be overwhelming but we recommend you take a risk and try this place out! They never lack on flavor and might make you change your mind on things you thought you would not like!
