Chain Reviews - The Capital Grille

We spent the weekend in Charlotte, North Carolina for our cousin’s wedding. Of course we tried to seek out the best food. For our first night we set out to The Capital Grille Charlotte location.

The first dish we order was the burrata salad plate. Having the whole sliced tomatoes and the smaller cherry tomatoes was nice and both tasted great with the burrata cheese. The bread was pretty stale and bland. The dish needed more balsamic but the cheese was definitely the star on the plate.

We also ordered the Lobster Crab Cakes and calamari (not pictured) appetizers that were great. They were cooked properly and not lacking in protein quantity. These were probably the favorite dish of the night.

The dry aged new york strip was good, not great.  Not as seasoned as it should be or as tender as it should be for the price.  The sides, cauliflower and au gratin potatoes were just meh, essentially just meal filler.

The lobster tail special from South Africa was pretty good. You have to eat it dunked in the butter and the lemon flavor was nice.

The desserts we ordered were the crème brûlée cheesecake and the regular crème brûlée. These were the most beautiful presentations of the night. Definitely the best way to end the dinner experience.

The service was good but our server’s energy and attitude were very blah. We felt almost dismissed like we were wasting her time especially when she removed our Wine glasses with a huff.  None of us were wine drinkers.  Server didn't smile once until we ordered dessert.  All in all not good enough for the prices charged.
